The Voice of SUSTAINABILITY

In recent months, GUSA has developed its Office of Sustainability, provided all dorms with recycling bins, all students with a complimentary water bottle, as well as install "Drink Local" stations across campus.  Regardless of waht political affiliation you might find yourself within, climate change and global warming are not theories but facts.  Georgetown has made great leaps in engineering a sustainble campus for its future, however with a B rating on the College Sustainability Report Card, there is work to finish!

A "B" Rating

What Can We Do?

  • Sponsor a yearly "Innovation Challenge" competition to allow for the participation of the entire student body on ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy conservation on campus.

  • Encourage The Corp. and Leo's Dining Hall to incorporate local produce into their selections to limit carbon footprints.

  • Establish a CORE (Consortium for Ongoing Reinvestment Efforts) Fund to GAP finance green projects that Georgetown students wish to implement on campus.

  • Establish a Green Roof Initiative.

  • Design a Complete Streets Policy to ensure that Georgetown's future development incorporates all modes of transport.
