Student Activities Fee

Although it really is only about $75, the Student Activites Fee paid by YOU, allows the myriad of Student Groups on campus to have a little money to operate within.  GUSA, and its various committees is responsible for the distribution of these funds to groups.  With the right leadership, we can work to provide higher quality distribution for the most effective price.  As well the Senate's Operating Budget utilizes these funds.  Annually GUSA distributes nearly $1 Million!  However, various student groups have been found not to spend their allotted money on student projects.  Nearly $800,000 was found to be unspent!  We must develop mechanisms to reward the spending of funds towards greater programming for students.

What is a PPP?

A Public Private Partnership is an innovative approach to problem solving, funding, and operating a program by combining the talents of the public and private sectors as one unified partnership.  The public and private sectors function in out daily lives often as seperate spheres.  However, government can work to better include these private partners so that spheres - where possible - are intertwined.

How can GUSA use them?

  • Establish a CORE (Consortium for Ongoing Reinvestment Efforts) Fund to GAP Finance Projects through the donations of private companies seeking interest in affiliation with the university.

  • Contract with companies to reduce waste and increase recycling.

  • Partner with groups such as GU Energy, to increase Georgetown's solar power, including all methods of effective renewable energy supplies.
